Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems

IHC D&A – in cooperation with other IHC Merwede units – has an excellent range of Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems. They can be delivered with class approval for classifications DP1, DP1-AM/AT, DP2 and DP3.

Modular arrangement and scope

Thanks to the modular arrangement, the systems vary from simple class-approved independent joystick control, autopilots or dredge track automats, to the full DP2 and DP3 versions, including anchor-supported DP, diver- or ROV-following mode and acoustic position data acquisition. Remote joystick and manual control of actuators can of course be easily realised. The scope of actual deliveries is carefully determined in conjunction with the owner, based on the range of the vessel’s operational requirements.

Features

DP systems of IHC D&A origin are distinguished through maximum added value to the user by:

  • optimal correction for the forces generated by the equipment to connect the vessel with the seafloor, such as suction pipes, hoses, flexlay and rigid pipes, stingers, umbilicals, hoisting wires, ROVs and diving bells etc. Even unknown vessel/seafloor connection systems can be simulated with IHC Merwede’s Dynamic Operation in Dredging and Offshore (DODO)
  • intelligent integration of DP with ECDIS, track planning and survey systems and the whole vessel platform automation and power management, under the perspective of optimum ergonomics and undoubtedly intuitive monitoring and control possibilities
  • avoidance of information shortage, overshoot or presentation on the wrong place
  • one single, unmistakable and intuitive control supporting front end.
